Title: The Net Neutrality Debate: Who Owns The Internet?
Authors: Leblois, Lucie
Issue Date: 25-Aug-2009
Abstract: The neutral architecture under which the Internet was built is facing challenges. As such the Network neutrality debate has arisen, raising issues such as free speech, copyright, bandwidth management and competition. Ultimately, what this debate comes down to is how it will be talked about - in what way will it be boiled down. As we explore this debate, a look back at how we got here is critical. Who are the players involved? What has shaped this issue thus far? And finally, what will ultimately influence where this conversation goes and in the end, determine who does own the Internet?
