This collection of 207 photographs contains images collected by John Mitchell 1896 - 1924. These images are part of the John Mitchell Papers and relate to Mr. Mitchell’s personal and professional life as the President of the United Mine Workers of America. They include images of Mr. Mitchell, his family, prominent Americans (US Presidents, labor leaders, etc…), union activities, and glimpses of what the workplace was like for coal workers around the turn of the twentieth century in the United States of America.
