{Post card sent by Robert O'Connell to his sister Sarah, postmarked May 2,1917] Wednesday Your letter arrived this morning and you can bet it is good to get mail here. I wish there was a chance to skip up home for a day but it takes about 12 hours to make it, as near as I can figure, and they have stopped giving passes for anything over a day. I am going to write you a long letter Sunday and you will get it about Tuesday. We are all praying that a bill in Congress raising the men's pay to $30.00 a month will be passed. It sounds like a whole bank. You soger brother, Pvt. O'Connell, Co. A, Sir. Aint it purty? [Transcribed by W.J.Shepherd, 4/21/2009]
