-To O’Mahony from J. Jackson (Stephens)-July 27, 1863
27 July
[1863], Dublin. 'Brother, You have already met the bearer of this
note— Mr Maurice O'Donohue.' Is 'one of our best men.'
Sorry to see him go, even for a short time, but circumstances (which O'D. may explain to O'M.)
compel him to leave;
he intends staying in New York. 'If at all in your power to serve him .... you
will gratify not only me but many of our best men';
he brings a letter from me to the Pagan [Patrick O'Leary], who will let you
know its contents. Has already acknowledged receipt of 'your
last order, ^50.'
